Ekosem-Agrar is active in three divisions, namely Dairy Production, Crop Farming and Meat Production. The company’s integrated business model is based on growing food crops and fodder crops. Ekosem-Agrar today operates six modern and resource-efficient farming operations covering a total area of 170,000 hectares including 120,000 hectares of arable land. The company grows grain, potatoes, peas, sunflowers, sugar beets, soybeans, fodder crops and other crops.
In addition, the farms produce certified high-quality seeds and elite seeds in European and Russian varieties. This steadily growing business has given Ekosem-Agrar a leading position in the Russian seeds market.
Dairy production is the Group’s most important business and accounts for the largest share of sales (approximately 50 percent). The company keeps 36,500 cattle, including 13,850 dairy cows, in state-of-the-art dairy facilities at five of its six locations, namely in Kaluga, Voronezh, Kursk, Tjumen and Novosibirsk. A total milk production of more than 225 tons per day makes the company one of the three largest milk producers in Russia. The past financial year 2010/2011 saw Ekosem-Agrar boost its milk production by 70 percent to 50 million litres. Key customers include the Danone-Unimilk group, the Russian joint venture of Hochland group and the cheese dairy Bobrov.
