Walldorf, 20 January 2023 - Ekosem-Agrar AG, the German holding company of Russian milk producer Ekoniva Group, developed significantly positively in all main business areas in 2022. The average daily milk output during the period was 3,261 tons (2021: 3,060 tons). The increase in raw milk output was mainly driven by the growth in daily output per dairy cow, which increased from 27.7 kg in the previous year to 29.3 kg in 2022. The number of cattle grew to an average of more than 222,800 (2021: 211,100 cattle ) during the reporting period, while the average number of dairy cows grew slightly to 111,200.

In the milk processing sector, the Ekosem-Agrar Group recorded particularly strong growth of 40% to 164,000 tons of finished dairy products in 2022. The production of fresh milk and traditional dairy products grew by 39% to over 158,000 tons, while yoghurt and dessert products (including ice-cream) increased by 46% to almost 4,400 tons. Cheese production increased 4.6-fold to over 1,200 tons. The increase in milk processing was due in particular to the expansion of production capacities and the product range of the EkoNiva brand from 71 to 79 product lines.

The 2022 harvest year was also positive for Ekosem-Agrar AG. Yields in the fodder harvest were once again increased with 831,000 tons of dry matter feed (2021: 800,000 tons) and secured again the supply of the company's own livestock. In total, 732,000 tons of grain, 291,000 tons of sugar beet, 108,000 tons of pulses and 50,000 tons of oilseeds were harvested across the Group in the current season.

Stefan Dürr, CEO of Ekosem-Agrar AG: "We have made very good progress in our strategically important milk processing area, expanded capacities as planned and significantly increased our market presence. In the field of crop farming, we are also satisfied with the harvest for the year as a whole, despite phases of unfavorable weather conditions at in autumn and can continue to cover the feed requirements of our growing livestock generally from our own production."
